Rana Vikram Singh: About

Dr Rana Vikram Singh who earned his master’s degree in Zoology with specialization in entomology and thereafter his Ph. D. from Patna University. In between, he gained some hands on training in insect reproduction laboratory of Delhi University as M. Phil student.


Dr Singh has been a member of research and academic staff with “Natural Resource Management” team of ‘Centre for Science and Environment,(CSE)’ India’s most respected science and environment research organization. Later he worked on water and biodiversity issues and travelled almost throughout the country to have a better understanding of different environmental issues. There working with CSE he worked on several projects related to environmental rating and conservations. The Five Leaf Green Technology Award was one of them from UNDP and Ministry of environmental and forests, Government of India was one of them. He completed a book on “Indo-Gangetic Links” a directory of environmental experts in Indo gangetic plains, which was supported by Commonwealth Science Council, U K and published by CSE.


He worked as Asst Professor of Zoology at D.A.V. Postgraduate College, Siwan and presently he is teaching graduate and postgraduate students and guiding their research work at Jagdam College, Jai Prakash University, Chapra, Bihar, India.


A book, “Lac-The Wonder of Nature” published by LAP-Lambert Academic Publishing, Germany. Another book “Indo Gangetic Links”: A Directory of Environmental Experts in the Indo-Gangetic Plains, was Published by Centre For Science and environment, New Delhi and supported by Commonwealth Science Council, UK.

Dr Singh has written chapter on “Betelvine Cultivation in India” in the book “Recent Advance in Medicinal Plants and their cultivation”. Edited By Aloka Kumari, R K Lal, R K Khajuria, Mangalam Publications. Delhi, India and “Integrated Pest Management for better post harvest Results” in the book, “Recent Advances in Post Harvest Management & Practices” Mangalam Publications, Delhi.


Dr Singh has published many research papers, articles and reports in leading national and International journals and magazines. His principal research field of interests is biodiversity and environment. Dr Singh has attended several international and national seminars, symposia and meets. He has presented many papers in international and national seminars and conferences.


Dr Singh has been a active member of several scientific societies including Indian Science Congress Association, Kolkatta, Association of Geographers Bihar and Jharkhand, Association of Teachers in Biological Sciences (ATBS), Mumbai, Institutional Member, International Society of Zoological Sciences, Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Datun Lu, Beijing, China.


He is also associated with Vikramshila Science Foundation in promoting research and action for sustainable development. He is executive editor of the Journal- “SPECTRUM: Journal of Science and Society for Sustainable Development” published by Vikramshila Science Academy.
